Tribal Casinos Expand Into Poker Business

Casinos Now Competing Directly with Minnesota's Horse Industry

lkjl

Treasure Island is the latest Minnesota Tribal Casino to go “All In” to the poker business, opening the doors on its newly constructed poker facility in early October 2005. Treasure Island is the 10th Tribal Casino to expand into the poker business and the first metro area casino to directly compete with Canterbury Park and Minnesota's horse industry in the Texas Hold'em business.  Unlike gaming offered at Canterbury Park, poker rooms at Tribal Casinos do not contribute to Minnesota's horse industry.

Even before the expansion into poker by Minnesota's tribal casinos, Minnesota boasted one of the largest tribal casino gaming industries in America with over 20,000 slot machines.  That number is represents nearly a 100% growth rate in the past 10 years.
